This luxury holiday accommodation is quite literally breathtaking with huge rooms, heavily beamed, contemporary touches and a bespoke table to seat all your guests in the wonderful dining hall. The complex consists of 4 barns in a courtyard setting with ample parking for all. The barns are in excellent condition throughout with several outside seating areas, games area, playstation, enormous kitchen and dining space in the main barn, swimming pool, tennis court and a large garden.

Great Higham Barn Complex Holiday Accommodation

Great Higham Barn: sleeps 18 + 8 in 7 bedrooms, 2 sofa beds and 4 futon beds in reception rooms, 1 family bathroom, 4 en suite bath or shower rooms and 1 WC. Outside there is a private garden with large patio area and seating and private off road parking for several cars on the driveway or undercover. Use of shared outdoor swimming pool and tennis courts.

The property is entered via the double height barn door which leads into a double height glass walled atrium.

Main dining area with table and seating for 18 with French doors leading to the rear patio area.

Kitchen: split into three 'rooms' - the main cooking area, with sink, double range electric oven and extractor fan, two dishwashers and a large fridge. A second dining area overlooking the garden seats 12.

The utility room has a washing machine and separate dryer.

Glass wood and steel stairs lead to the first floor to an open mezzanine.

Snug/play area with PlayStation (sorry no games provided), TV/DVD, WIFI internet, docking station, DAB radio and CD player. Reading area upon sofas to seat 4.

Main sitting area: sofas and armchairs to seat 14 with beanbags for a further 4, coffee table, TV and DVD adjoining WC with wash hand basin.

Ground floor (5 bedrooms):

1 x Master bedroom (sleeps 2) king size double bed, bedside tables and lamps en-suite bathroom with bath, integral shower, WC and wash hand basin.

1 x Double room (sleeps 2) double bed, bedside tables and lamps, en-suite shower room.

3 x Double / Twin rooms (sleeps 2 each) have twin beds that can either be made up as doubles or twins - if you have a preference please let us know when booking.

1 Family bathroom with bath, integral shower, WC and wash hand basin.

1 WC with wash hand basin.

First Floor (2 bedrooms):

1 x Snug/play area (sleeps 8) 2 double sofa beds and 4 futon beds sleep the extra 8 guests.

1 x Family bedroom (sleeps 6) four single beds and bunk beds with an en-suite bathroom walk in shower and bath, wash hand basin and WC

1 x Independent room, (sleeps 2) access down via a spiral staircase from the first floor or directly via own exterior front door. King size double or twin, en-suite bathroom with bath, shower, WC and wash hand basin.

Great Higham Oast: Sleeps 10 in 4 bedrooms, 1 reception room, 2 bathrooms (1 ensuite) and 1 WC. Outside there is a south facing patio with seating for 10 and a BBQ and further outside space to the rear. Under cover car parking for two cars is available.

Entered through the hallway with room for coats and boots, leading to the spacious open plan living area.

Sitting Area: Open plan with three comfortable sofas grouped around a coffee table, on oak flooring. A TV, DVD player and Sky TV are available.

Kitchen: With granite work surfaces the kitchen is equipped with dishwasher, fridge, freezer, washing machine, electric oven and hob, microwave and extractor fan, the adjoining dining table seats 10.

Bedroom Configuration:

Ground floor:

1 x family bedroom (sleeps 4) 1 double bed and 2 single beds bedside tables and lamps and a wood burning stove.

1 x WC with wash hand basin

First Floor:

1 x Master bedroom (sleeps 2) oak double bed, bedside tables, stylish lamps and 1 ensuite with shower cubicle, wash hand basin and WC.

2 x twin bedroom (each sleeps 2) each with two single beds and a chest of drawers.

1x Family bathroom with bath and hand-held shower over, wash hand basin and WC.

Under floor heating throughout both properties.

Cherry and Plum Cottages: both sleep 4, each property has 1 mezzanine bedroom and 1 sofa bed, 1 reception room, 1 family bathroom. Secluded garden (not enclosed) with BBQ, patio and seating for 4. Private covered off road parking for two cars. Shared use of outside swimming pool and tennis courts.

Through the original stable door into a hallway with coat cupboard leading into open plan living area.

Sitting room: French doors leading to patio area, wood burning stove with an ample supply of logs, comfortable sofas (1 sofa bed), TV/DVD WIFI connectivity

Kitchen: granite topped kitchen with breakfast bar equipped with washing machine, fridge, electric oven, electric hobs, microwave oven and kettle. A dining table comfortably seating four is adjacent to the kitchen.

1 galleried twin bedroom (sleeps 2) 2 single beds, 2 side tables and lamps. Velux windows.

1 family bathroom on the ground floor, modern white bath, integral shower, hand basin and WC.

All forms of digital music are catered for with USB links for most MP3 players.
DAB radio and CD player also available.

Local Information about Doddington, Kent

This holiday barn is part of complex of converted barns at Great Higham Farm in Doddington, Kent. The self catering English property is about a mile from the Kent village of Doddington with pub, garage and general stores and children's playground. There are several pubs near to this holiday barn offering good pub food ideal for those who do not wish to cook in this self catering holiday let, the nearest of which is in Milstead, Kent.

The English country house is part of the Torry Hill Estate and holidaymakers will have full use of the estate to enjoy during their stay at the Kent holiday let, including its 30 km of woodland paths and bridle paths for visitors to explore more of the Kent countryside. On the estate there is an established circular walk through the elegant parkland and along a Victoria carriage drive. In the spring Kent's bluebell woods and blossom from the cherry orchards are a sight to see! There is a riding stable near to this luxury holiday barn in Kent where horse riding and mountain bikes are available for hire together with maps of recommended routes through the estate's woodland. In addition for a fun day out of the English country barn, clay pigeon shooting can be organised by prior arrangement, at a cost of £45 per person which includes cost of cartridges.

The county town of Maidstone is 15 miles to the west, from this particular holiday let in Kent, with the historic cathedral city of Canterbury within 25 minutes. Access to the Channel Tunnel is at junction 12 of M20 and it can be reached in half an hour - crossings take 35 minutes, hereby you can enjoy more than just Kent when you come to stay in this luxurious and large holiday barn. Bookings can be made via the link on our website. For day trips to London, there is a regular service every half hour from Sittingbourne in Kent, not far from this holiday barn, which takes about an hour. The North Kent coast is only a few miles away, where the reserves at Elmley and Oare offer some of the best bird watching in the south-east for you to enjoy whilst you stay in Doddington, Kent, especially in winter.

Further afield this self catering holiday house is well placed for visits to Sissinghurst Castle and Gardens, the naval dockyards at Chatham or a visit to the wonderful medieval castles dotted right along the Kent and Sussex coast (we have more castles in Kent than any other county!).

Services & Notes

This is a carbon neutral development and all heating is supplied by the estate's own coppiced woodland at no charge to the holidaymaker. 

In addition much of the electricity comes from a renewable source. 

Dogs are welcome as long as they behave themselves! Swimming pool available for use May - September. 

Please note that the gardens are not fully enclosed (except Plum Cottage). 

A refundable security deposit of £1000 is payable in case of any breakages/damage. 

Cots and highchairs available upon request.
